Why Granite?

Granite is the most beautiful, practical and durable material available for countertops, tables and fireplaces. Granite adds elegance to your home and enhances its value. Granite has just been rated #2 (after stainless steel) by the American Culinary Institute for resistance to bacterial growth.

Granite vs. Marble:

Marble is much softer and more easily scratched than granite. Marble is also susceptible to etching by household acids, such as vinegar. It can be an excellent choice for table and vanity tops that are not subjected to much wear, such as coffee tables, end tables, and bathroom vanities.

Granite is a much more suitable material for surfaces that must be heat and wear resistant, such as kitchen countertops.

Granite vs. Corian:

Corian is basically acrylic plastic. It is easily machined, and also easily scratched. A hot pot from the stove accidentally placed on a Corian surface will melt it.

Granite is much more difficult to cut and polish (our state-of -the -art equipment solves this problem, see "Our Fairbanks Shop"). Granite is highly scratch-resistant and can have a hot pot placed on it without damage.

The better quality grades of Corian are comparable in installed cost to mid-range granites.

There is absolutely no comparison between the beauty of natural stone vs. any synthetic product.
